Bellagio: A Living Space Designed by Kason Chung

Creating an Open and Bright Home for Retirement

Inspired by the desire to create a peaceful and future-oriented living space, Kason Chung designed Bellagio, a stunning open-plan home that maximizes space and enhances the visual experience.

Hong Kong, known for its limited space, can be a challenging environment to design a comfortable home. However, Kason Chung, a renowned designer, embraced this challenge and transformed a small apartment into a spacious and inviting living space. Bellagio, designed for a couple approaching retirement, offers a serene and open atmosphere that encourages relaxation and contemplation.

The key feature of Bellagio is its open-plan design, which allows natural light to flood the space from different angles, creating a sense of spaciousness. The use of dark wood and grey marble with clean vein lines adds a touch of elegance and richness to the interior. The combination of wood and stone elements creates a visually appealing contrast and adds warmth to the overall design.

In the living room, a cozy electric stove is incorporated, providing a warm and inviting ambiance. Two glass door cabinets with wood patterns further enhance the cozy atmosphere, evoking the feeling of a rustic cabin in the woods.

The main material used in the design is wood, which not only adds a natural and organic touch but also blends harmoniously with other elements in the space. The careful selection of materials and colors creates a cohesive and visually pleasing environment.

Bellagio spans 950 square feet and includes a bedroom, closet, open kitchen, two bathrooms, and a spacious living area. The living room features three large windows, allowing ample natural light to fill the space and enhancing the sense of openness.

Throughout the design process, Kason Chung prioritized close collaboration with the clients. By listening to their needs and preferences, he was able to create a space that truly reflects their lifestyle and aspirations. The open-plan design not only maximizes the available space but also provides a sense of freedom and possibility for the clients to envision their future retirement.

Bellagio was completed in September 2021 in Hong Kong. The project posed several challenges, including the narrow and confined original layout. However, through innovative spatial planning and the use of an open-plan design, Kason Chung successfully transformed the space into a bright and inviting home.

Bellagio, designed by Kason Chung, is a testament to the power of thoughtful design in creating a harmonious and inspiring living space. It has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This award acknowledges the exceptional creativity and resourcefulness demonstrated in the design, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of life.
